Check out this simple, old-fashioned, southern potato salad recipe! It's easy to make and goes with so many dishes!
Serves as a perfect compliment to gumbo, stews, barbecues and more!
Eating it warm is my favorite, but you can also serve this as a chilled potato salad as well!
The Best Southern Potato Salad
Check out this simple, old-fashioned, southern potato salad recipe! It's easy to make and goes with so many dishes! A perfect compliment to gumbo, stews, barbecues and more.
- 9 eggs
- 5 lb bag of russet potatoes
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 cups mayo
- 3 tbsp dill pickle relish
- 1/2 tbsp mustard
- 1 tsp season all

Place a large pot half filled with water on high heat.

Put a medium size pot half filled with water on high heat.

Peel potatoes using a vegetable peeler.

Once water in the medium size pot boils, put eggs and 1 tsp salt in the pot for 15 minutes.

Rinse and dice potatoes after peeling.

Add potatoes and 1 tsp salt to the large pot of boiling water.

Boil potatoes until tender, approximately 20-25 minutes.

Peel the eggs after running cold water over them for a few minutes.

Add eggs to a large serving bowl and smash using an egg smasher.

Next: add mayo, pickle relish, mustard, season all, salt and pepper to taste into the large serving bowl.

Lastly, strain the water out of the boiled potatoes and fold the diced potatoes into the ingredients of the serving bowl.

Serve and enjoy!
I love eating this potato salad warm, right after making it.
May serve chilled if desired.
