Jet Birthday Party Food Ideas, Printable Party Tags Download
A fun and easy DIY party theme for your fighter jet loving boy!
This party has an easy setup, easy to assemble decorations and it’s pretty easy on the budget.
My son wanted nothing more than a fighter jet birthday party this year, so we made it happen!
I really wanted the food/snacks to feel on theme with a party twist.
Our jet party food spread included a birthday cake + ice cream, honey buns (totally a hit!), pretzels, goldfish, fresh fruit trays and marshmallow cloud favor bags.

I wanted to add to this post the coolest flight suit paired with aviators that he got for his birthday. It was perfect for the party and can be worn again for play, or fall festivities.
He absolutely LOVED it, and it made for some awesome pictures that I’ll treasure for years to come!
THE INVITE
Here’s the Etsy link to the fighter jet invite my son and I designed for this party. You can purchase the invite design and receive an editable link to Canva where you can customize your personal info and send out digital invites, or print your invites at a local print shop.
THE CAKE
Now don’t let this cake intimidate you! I’m no cake expert, just a DIY queen over here! I love using the recipes from Recipe Girl. Even though it is a cupcake recipe, I always use this batter for my 3 layer party cakes . Here’s the link to the recipe I used for this cake: Chocolate Wedding Cupcakes, and I used a long flat cake spatula to make the icing design with buttercream frosting. It was super easy to cover any of the spots that I had trouble smoothing by using this icing design on the outer part of the cake. I bought a model jet with a stand and a number 6 with silver candles for the cake topper. Voila!
IN FLIGHT SNACKS
I used the kid classics, goldfish and pretzel twists to be the “in flight snacks.” Feel free to use these, or you could even swap out some other kid favorites in it’s place. Depending on the time of your party, you could also put single serve variety bags of chips in a bowl next to these, just to give your party goers another easy salty option.
CONTROL TOWER
I bought honey buns and used long wooden skewers to make a “control tower” on a small plate. Gosh, was this a hit! I couldn’t stock the honey buns fast enough throughout the party.
You could also buy donuts in place of the honey buns if you prefer!
FRESH FRUIT TRAYS
We had a few fresh fruit options set out since our party began mid morning. This pair of hexagon trays are my go to for fruit trays with a couple small white ramekin dishes added in for the smaller fruits. Feel free to use whatever works best for your party, whether it be indoors, outdoors, cool weather or warm weather, as well as the time of the party.
BAGGAGE CLAIM
The party favors were labeled as “baggage claim.” We had clear favor bags stuffed with clouds, better known as marshmallows, plus a pair of kids sunglasses attached to the tie on the bag.
FUELING STATION
The fueling station, a fun label for the drink station. We had infused water with strawberries and blueberries, mini water bottles and a lot of juice pouches.
DECOR
I usually set up one party table that’s themed & the center of everything going on at the party. I find it helps me get away with a lot less decor which ultimately saves time and money. For this party, I used a black table cloth, a blue toned canvas backdrop, and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY banner. I secured the streamers on both ends with a push pin. I found a set of decorative jets, as well as some small toy jets to scatter on the table for decor. For cutlery and paper goods I had light blue napkins, plates, utensils and black cups. Lastly, for the food labels on the table, I printed the tags and secured them with a tabletop card holder. See the pictures throughout the post for reference.

PAPER AIRPLANE STATION
We had a paper airplane making station that could easily be followed with a paper airplane competition to see who’s plane flies the farthest! I use our The Awesome Paper Airplane Book, Small Foam Plane Toys to Assemble and a paper airplane craft kit.
Some other fun ideas for a kid’s table are jet themed stickers, toys, washable tattoos, coloring sheets and colors.
