Christmas Tree Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 roll sugar cookie dough
- 1 can vanilla icing
- 4 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tube black icing
- 1 can Christmas sprinkles (your choice)
- 1/4 cup flour
Instructions
- Lay a piece of wax paper on a flat surface and sprinkle with flour.
- Preheat oven as directed on the package of dough.
- Place roll of sugar cookie dough on wax paper and flatten with a rolling pin. Use flour as needed to avoid dough from sticking to the rolling pin.
- Use the cookie cutter(s) of your choice to cut out shapes in the dough.
- Place on a cookie sheet sprayed with non stick cooking spray.
- Bake for the length of time directed on the package.
- While cookies are baking, mix 1/2 cup of icing with 2 tbsp of powdered sugar to thicken icing and allow to harden. Add food coloring if you would like your icing to be green or red.
- Remove cookies from oven and allow to cool completely.
- Ice the surface of the cookie using white, green or red icing.
- Using black icing, make zig zag lines from top to bottom on each cookie.
- Use sprinkles of your choice to place ornaments along the black lines on the cookie.
- Serve & enjoy!
Notes:
May use chocolate chip cookie dough, instead of sugar cookie dough, if desired.
Use mini M&Ms in the place of sprinkles, if desired.
If you prefer, use a batch of chilled homemade sugar cookie dough. We use pre made dough since all of our kids are still toddlers and life around the holidays is often hectic.
