Cheap DIY Paint Stick Picture Frame
DIY Paint Stick Picture Frame
This budget-friendly DIY paint stick picture frame is so cheap to make and really easy to customize! I had some leftover paint sticks from the hardware store and thought of re purposing them into a picture frame.
Not only is it great for decor around the home, but it also makes the perfect gift for any holiday! Parents and grandparents love to get gifts that includes photos of their kids and grandkids!
Supplies:
- Paint sticks - quantity: 5 paint sticks for 4x6, 7 paint sticks for 5x7
- Some paint sticks may vary in width so a rule of thumb would be to add an inch to the dimensions of your desired picture. For example, the 5x7's frame dimensions are 6x8, and the 4x6's dimensions are 5x7.
- Wood glue
- Paint color of choice (I got an .89 cent bottle at Walmart)
- Sponge tipped paint brush
- Metal clip
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Any kind of saw that will cut a thin paint stick
Instructions:
- Gather supplies.
- Cut paint sticks to desired frame size.
- Line up pieces of paint sticks on your workspace.
- Put wood glue on one of the scrap pieces of paint sticks and adhere it across the back of the paint sticks on your workspace. Example pictured below.
- Glue metal clip to the top middle of your row of paint sticks.
- Use the sponge tipped brush to paint the front of your frame in the color of your choice.
- Allow to dry.
- I used decorative easels to display my frames, but you could also put a magnet on the back or a wall picture hanger.
IDEA: Dress up your frame with a bow made of ribbon secured to the top middle or top corner of your frame!
